Paul “Squirt” Messenger, 93, of Tunnelton, died on Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at Preston Memorial Hospital in
Kingwood.
Paul was born June 26, 1928, in Rowlesburg, a son of the late Dean Stanley Messenger and Thelma (Nice) Messenger Watkins.
He was a 1944 graduate of Rowlesburg High School. He retired as the manager for Preston Parts with over 20 years of service. He owned and operated Squirt’s Roller Rink with his wife for 18 years before retiring in 1972. Paul loved traveling, camping and fishing.
Paul is survived by one son and spouse, Paul “Butch” and Carolyn Messenger, of Tunnelton; three grandsons and spouses, Michael Scott and Vanessa Messenger, of Calcutta, Ohio, Barry Wayne and Jennifer Messenger, of Clinton, Pa., Zachary Kyle Messenger, of Tunnelton; one great-grandson, Dustin Messenger; two great-granddaughters, Kacey Messenger and Gemma Messenger; one brother-in-law, Rodney Storts, of Planet City, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Tacy (Wodzenski) Messenger; one son, David Lynn Messenger, Feb. 1, 2012; two sisters, Ima Storts and Geraldine and spouse Richard “Dick” Bolyard; and stepfather, Ray Watkins.
Family and friends may call at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price St., from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday,
Nov. 28. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, with Pastor Rick Bloom officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive on Lantz Ridge.
