KINGWOOD — The Kingwood City Council unanimously voted to give $500 towards the Kingwood Police Department’s Shop with a Cop at its most recent meeting Tuesday.
Officer Gina McNemar told council the department is hosting its Shop with a Cop Dec. 10. So far, McNemar has been able to raise $2,600.
“And I mean, donations keep coming in from community members,” McNemar said. “So it’s fantastic.”
Councilwoman Karen Kurilko asked if the city could make the donation to the program and made a motion to donate $500.
McNemar said the donation could cover toiletries and stockings — an idea that they came up with over the weekend.
“I appreciate everything you’ve done to get that much money raised and to do what you’re doing,” Kurilko said. “I think it’s great.”
Councilman Josh Fields also thanked McNemar for her hard work.
“It’s pretty awesome what you’re doing you really haven’t gotten the recognition you deserve for the time and effort that you put into it,” Fields said.
McNemar said she appreciated that — it was a lot of after hours work.
