George Butcher

George Wade Butcher, 63, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Nov. 15, 2021. He was born in Sutton, on June 21, 1958, son of the late Richard D. Butcher and Sarah Jane (Cutlip) Butcher.

Cherishing the life of George are his daughter, Katrinia Parsons and husband Richard Eric, of Weston; two grandchildren, Abigail Coakley and Joseph Coakley; one step-granddaughter, Maddysen Parsons; one brother, Richard Butcher, of Morgantown; two sisters, Barbara Brooks, of Madison, N.C., and Martha Nick and husband Bill, of Browns Summit, N.C., one half brother, Lee Roy Butcher, of Birch River; one half sister, Mary Ellen Taylor and husband Dewey, of Ravenswood, and one nephew, Michael Nick, of Xenia, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Butcher; one brother-in-law, Charlie Brooks; and two half brothers and four half sisters.

George was a graduate of Lewis County High School Class of 1977. In high school, George was in the FFA. He attended Fred W. Eberle Technical School in Buckhannon and received his welding certificate. George was as a shop foreman, master welder and fabricator for US Machine in Fairmont for 30-plus years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morgantown. George was known for helping anyone he could and taking care of every stray cat he found. Above all, George cherished every minute spent with his grandchildren.

George’s wish for cremation has been honored by Hardman Family Funeral Home, of Weston. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
