Roger Derrell Moore, 87, of Morgantown, formerly of Daybrook, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2021.
He was born Feb. 27, 1934, a son of the late John Russell Moore and Dorothy Haught Moore.
Roger was the former operator of “Moore’s Daybrook Store.” He retired in Morgantown with his daughter, Paulette Moore Newmeyer and family.
He is survived by a daughter, Paulette Newmeyer and a son-in-law, J.J.; two grandchildren, Joe Newmeyer, his wife Erin and their sons, John and Bennett, and Rita Newmeyer-Quintos, her husband Vincent and their son Oliver; a son, Rodney Moore and his wife Joann Moore; one brother, Johnny Moore; and four sisters, Rose Moore, Nancy Statler, Judith Sine and Caroline “Kay” Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Harker Moore; and two brothers, Royal “Measle” Moore and Wilbert “Jade” Moore.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home, 5894 Mason-Dixon Highway, Blacksville, from noon-1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Freddie Eddy II officiating. Interment will follow in the Daybrook Cemetery.
