TERRA ALTA — As the nation honors American heroes for their military service on Veterans Day, Alpine Lake Resort extends that recognition as well.

From 4-9 p.m. Thursday, the resort will host an event in the lodge to remember and honor local veterans. The resort requests that patrons bring  photos and stories to share.

The resort is also collecting food donations for the fourth-grader Izabelle Dimick’s Food for Vets project. Izabelle’s newly created food pantry is available through a partnership with local AMVETS Post 17. The food is made available to veterans and their families in Preston County and Garrett County, Md.

At Thursday’s event, a feature will be a luminaria walk outside the lodge. For a $10 donation, luminarias can be purchased in honor of” or in memory of any veteran. The proceeds will benefit AMVETs, Disabled Vets and Wounded Warriors and can be purchased by calling the Alpine Lake Resort front desk at 304-789-2481 or online at www.AlpineLake.com/honoring-veterans-day.

Alpine Lake Resort has made a $500 donation to Izabelle’s project and is offering a collection box for the public in the lobby of the resort through November.
