David Ray “Huggie” Huggins Sr., 65, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at Mon Health Medical Center. He was born Oct. 18, 1956, in Morgantown, a son of the late Donald George Huggins Sr. and Bonnie McBee Huggins.
Huggie worked as a supervisor for the City of Westover for 22 years before his retirement in 2010. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, playing cornhole and horseshoes, and especially hunting. Most of all, he relished spending time with family, friends and his granddaughter. He was a lifetime member of the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his fiancé of 32 years, Diana Ridgway; sons, David Huggins Jr. and Brian Huggins; stepsons, Tim Ridgway and Justin Lazzelle; his granddaughter, Khloe Lazzelle, who was his pride and joy; brother, Donald George Huggins Jr. and wife Pat; sisters, Carolyn Lazzelle and husband Art, Norma Huggins; sister-in-law, Denise Huggins; several nieces and nephews; and his childhood friends, who were like brothers to Huggie, Buck Cress and Roger “Bonehead” Marshall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Huggins Sr.
The family will receive friends at Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department, from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, and again from10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Huggie will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
