Lois O. “Maggie” Dixon, 91, of Independence, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, at Stonerise Kingwood.
She was born in Philippi, on June 11, 1930, a daughter of late Howard L. and Susan (Corbin) Love. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She enjoyed singing with her family and sang alto with the Gospel Blue Birds. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers and watching the hummingbirds. She was an accomplished caregiver and a provider of calm in the midst of any crisis.
Lois is survived by two daughters, Nancy Dixon and Donna Windon (Chuck); one son, William Todd Dixon (Monica); six grandchildren, Leslie (Rich), Heather (Spencer), Stephanie (Justin), Erica (Harrison), Hannah and Luke; 11 great-grandchildren, Logan, Nolan, Owen, Carter, Muliye, Royce, Tadesse, Wesley, Jameson, Ellis and Ethan; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Dixon, in 2008; six brothers, Dale, Maynard, Oliver, Billy, Junior and Carl Love; and five sisters, Helen Nelson, Betty Dean, Mary Hicks, Shirley Jones and Etta Lantz.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time on Thursday, Nov. 4, with the Rev. Russell Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Cemetery in Independence.
Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken, the social distancing 6-foot rule will be suggested and all guests who prefer to wear a mask are welcome to do so.
