Leonard Ray “Dude” Knotts, 80, and a resident of Lorain, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, following a full and meaningful life. He was born Oct. 1, 1941, in Newburg.
Leonard had made his home in Lorain, Ohio for the last 22 years. Leonard proudly served in the United States Army. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Avon Lake, Ohio for 30 years before retiring in 1999. Leonard was a devoted Christian and loved serving the Lord. He was a member of Tower Baptist Church in Lorain, Ohio. Leonard was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Dorothy Justice Knotts; his son, Tracy (Susan) Knotts; his grandchildren, Aaron Knotts, Victoria Knotts, and Megan Kleinsmith; and stepchildren, Gary Justice, Katrina Hillis, Robin Houston and Michael Justice; and one sister, Betty Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Kay (nee Burgoyne); his daughter, Cynthia Calvey; and his siblings, Bill, Charles Jr. and Catherine Conn.
Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon on Saturday, Nov. 6, with Pastor Jim Carder officiating. Interment will follow at Shay’s Chapel Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard of Camp Dawson.
