Sections of the Deckers Creek rail-trail set for paving this week

MORGANTOWN — Two sections of the Deckers Creek rail-trail are closed for paving. Paving will take place on two sections of the Deckers Creek rail-trail that fall within city limits:

  • Hazel Ruby McQuain Park to the trail crossing at Deckers Creek Boulevard at mile 1.7 and 2.
  • Green Bag Road crossing to the trail bridge behind Kroger near mile 2.3.

This paving work will replace the more than 20-year-old asphalt surface and remove the cracks and upheavals caused primarily by tree roots.

Morgantown City Council awarded this bid to Mountaineer Contractors in June 2021 in the amount of $134,470.24. This project is partially funded from the Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program and administered by the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways. Federal funds for this project total $94,400.
