Mrs. Ruby Pearl Regester Shreve, 98, a resident of Morgantown, departed this life early Wednesday morning Oct. 27, at her home in Morgantown. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born June 13, 1923, in Belington, a daughter of the late Peter Johnson and Cloe Belle Gainer Regester. On May 15, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lewis James Shreve, who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2000.
She is survived by eight children: Emma Jean Propst and husband Victor, of Morgantown, Thomas Jefferson Shreve and companion Sharon, of Ashland, Ohio, Virginia May Powell and husband Larry, of Morgantown, Mary Ellen Casner, of Morgantown, James Lewis Shreve, of Morgantown, Margaret Ann Karnas and companion Guito, of Lorraine, Ohio, Maxine Janet Dawson and husband Mark, of Hazelton, and Ruby Katherine Johnson and companion Mike, of Elyria, Ohio. Additional survivors include several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ivy Lucille Hansen; siblings, Leonard Regester, Clara Steerman Zirkle, Carol Regester, Estell Regester, Viva Ware, Wendell Regester, Nina Tenney and Susan Regester.
Ruby attended the schools of Barbour County. She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was an avid reader and loved to watch soap operas. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the funeral hour, on Friday Oct. 29, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face coverings are required while paying your respects in the funeral home. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Ruby Pearl Regester Shreve.
