Emma “Sally” L. Mayfield, 76, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on May 11, 1945, in Morgantown, daughter of the late Clark M. and Evelyn L. (Henry) Dunn.
Sally always considered family her priority in life and expressed her love in every way possible. She worked throughout the years in both nursing and retirement homes, giving her dedicated service in dietary, laundry and housekeeping.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Timothy A. Mayfield and partner, Christy, of Morgantown; daughter, Tamara L. Mayfield and partner, Stacey McKee, of Fayetteville, N.C.; sisters, Nancy “Naomi” Starkey and husband Allen, and Donna Shaffer; brother, Clark “Dennis” Dunn and wife Carmen; brother-in-law, Robert D. Smith; two grandchildren, Timothy A. Mayfield Jr. and wife Maria, of Fort Sill, Okla., and Logan A. Mayfield, of Morgantown; three great-grandchildren, Remy M. Mayfield, Corbyn L. Mayfield and Darren R. Mayfield, all of Fort Sill, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia M. Smith; brother-in-law, Thomas L. Shaffer; and her canine companion, Buckey, whom Sally loved and cared for.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. Visitation will continue at Nicholson Chapel, Summers School Road, Morgantown, from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, with the Rev. Ray Frankhauser officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson
Cemetery.
