Russel John Melito, 85, of Morgantown, passed away at his home Oct. 26, 2021. Russ was born in Morgantown Jan. 31, 1936, to the late John B. Melito and Catherina Tipi Melito.
Russ served in the United States Marine Corps, later worked for FMC and was self employed for several years. During his retirement, he was an active member of the Westover VFW #9916.
Russ is survived by his daughter, Tipi Sue Murray, of Leeland, N.C.; son: John Russel “Rusty” Melito, of Westover; stepdaughter, Suzanne Venskoske; companion, Elsie M. Boyd; sister, Yolanda Richmond; grandchildren, Alli, J.T., Victoria and Stephanie; and great-grandchildren, Ariyanna, Kaitlynn, Kyle and Wyatt.
In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Francis Clear.
Family and friends are invited to gather at McCulla Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28. A funeral service will be held at McCulla Funeral Home, at 10 am. Friday, Oct. 29. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with full military honors conferred by Westover VFW # 9916 and the Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to WV Caring Hospice at P.O. Box 760 Arthurdale, WV 26520.
