David Morris Marshall, 84, of Fairmont, went to be with his Lord Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, in Grantsville, Md. He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Grantsville, the son of the late Albert Morris Marshall and Bertie (Williams) Marshall.
After graduating from South High School in Akron, Ohio, Dave enlisted in the Army and served his country. Then, he married Elizabeth “Polly” Krepps in 1961. The two of them celebrated 60 years of marriage last March.
Dave was a retired masonry contractor. His life’s ministries revolved around both West Liberty University and Fairmont State University, in addition to leading numerous neighborhood Bible studies. He loved the Lord and passed his faith on to his children. He attended Fellowship Bible Church in Bridgeport.
His many interests included hunting, fishing, canoeing and playing gospel bluegrass music on the mandolin, guitar and bass.
Dave is survived by his wife, Polly; his children, Jim (Reba) Marshall, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Steve (Carla) Marshall, of Fairmont, Jerry (Rose) Marshall, of Woodruff, S.C., and Katie (Jeff) Helser, of Lafayette, Ohio; his grandchildren, Jordan (Brett), Brent (Samantha), Logan and Mikayla (Trey), Dean (Devan) and Wade, Anna (Caleb), Lauren, Layne and Emily and Jacob, Lizzie, and Elaina; and his great-granddaughter Evelyn. Also surviving are his two brothers, John (Lee) and Allen (Janet); his sister, Pat Whitehouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Marshall.
Friends may call at Browning Funeral Home, 201 East Main St., Kingwood, from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 and from
1-2 p.m., the funeral hour, Wednesday, Oct. 27, with Pastor Sam Schwenk officiating. Interment will follow the service at Camp Ground Cemetery in Tunnelton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Union Rescue Mission, 107 Jefferson St., Fairmont, WV 26554, in David’s memory.
