Mary Collins

Mary Louise Collins, 88, of Fairmont passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 1, 1933, a daughter of the late Howard W. and Mary Madeline Tichnell Collins Sr.

She was a 1951 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She worked for the Fairmont Federal Credit Union when it was associated with Owens-Illinois. She later worked in the purchasing department of Owens-Illinois. She then retired from the personnel department at West Virginia University.

She was a dedicated member of the Baptist Temple. She was an avid fan of the West Virginia University Mountaineers. She loved her camp at Tygart Lake and spending time with her family there. She had a pontoon boat with her sister, Shirley, and they enjoyed 19 years of summers together on the lake.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley Ashcraft, of Fairmont; her brother, Howard W. “Butch” Collins Jr. and his wife Beverlee, of Union, Ky.; one niece, Brenda Hogan and her husband Michael, of Morgantown; two nephews, Robert “Bob” Ashcraft and his wife Lori, of Fairmont and Tyler Collins, of Florence, Ky.; several great-nieces and nephews; and several close friends and neighbors.

Friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, with Pastor Allen Copenhaver officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery in Monongalia County.
