TERRA ALTA — The response to a car dealership in Terra Alta offering U-Haul services has been positive but issues with the pandemic have made it tough to get started.
On Wednesday, U-Haul announced that Ball Pre-Owned Auto signed on as an U-Haul neighborhood dealer and will offer services such as trucks, trailers, towing equipment and moving supplies.
Sales manager Zac McCullough said the reception since the company started offering U-Haul services about a month ago has been positive, adding they get lots of calls but don’t have much to offer yet.
“We’re kinda short on supply,” he said. “We haven’t really gotten any box trucks or moving trucks in yet.”
The dealership had some trailers, however those were rented on a one-way trip to Montana or Virginia, McCullough said.
He said he looks forward to business picking up when they have supply, but unfortunately the supply chain issues caused by COVID-19 have made for a wait in getting the equipment from U-Haul.
“We will definitely get more trucks and moving vans by the end of the year,” McCollugh said. The dealership is in the process of getting moving trucks, vans, rental F-150s and other moving supplies such as dollies and moving blankets to protect TVs and furniture.
The owner of Ball Pre-Owned, Mark Ball, also owns Ball Auction down the road. McCollugh said he got the idea to offer U-Haul services because customers kept asking him if he had trailers they could use.
Ball Pre-Owned has been in business for six years, McCullough said. It was previously J&J Ford and was called J&J Pre-Owned when Ball bought it.
