Delphia Ellen Ione Mariah Jane Melcher, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at her residence in Fairview.
She was preceded in death by two great-uncles, Charles and Darius Varner; a great-grandfather, Charles Varner, of Miracle Run; three times great-aunt, Dorothy Hickman, of Pumpkin Run; and cousin, William Grace Tennant.
Surviving is her mother, Cynthia Eddy; three brothers, Daimen, Darrius and Derick; aunt, Charlena Eddy, of Morgantown; aunt, Celia Eddy, of Wadestown; and grandparents, Crystal Eddy and Ronald Fletcher, of Daybrook, and Stanley Eddy, of Morgantown; grandmother, Delphia Varner, of Morgantown, and Billy Joe and Janet Eddy of Daybrook; as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
There has never been such a very special, unique and loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece and friend than Delphia. She had tremendous love for nature, and you could usually find her sitting in a tree listening to music with her earbuds in. She felt a great love for music and nature and often incorporated them together, the warmth of the sun, a cool summer breeze or the stars twinkling through the tree branches. Often you could find Delphia walking not just for her health, but because she loved walking and basking in God’s glory.
She was always sharing with Mammie (Crystal Eddy) and others some beautiful thing she had seen in her adventures, showing pictures of amazing things. Her love of others she always put before herself. Delphia was a God loving Christian and was honored and proud to have been baptized and saved, and to share that with those closest to her, even to those who were resistant. She has served her God well here on this Earth and will continue on in his Kingdom.
Of Delphia’s many other loves, she found great joy in the kitchen, cooking and preparing special foods or drinks for those she loved, most of which were her own creations of absolute deliciousness. Delphia loved sewing and mending for family members. She had a love for makeup and hairstyles, always experimenting with the new and fun styles to show to her Pappy (Ronald Fletcher) just to get a rise out of him. She was always a jokester, bringing love and joy to all that ever came into contact with her.
Delphia had a very unique and deep loving relationship with each of her brothers and was always making sure they knew it. She also had a close friendship with Sedona, her best friend, and spoke of her often to our family. Delphia got such joy from buying and making special gifts for friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time at Mammie’s house or hanging at Aunt Celia’s and going on shopping sprees or just doing things in the kitchen or helping and playing with her cousins, Colby, Noah, Maddie, Mariah and Marshall, who were more like brothers and sisters to her. She had a close “ride or die” friend, her cousin, Elizabeth Eddy (Soul Sisters) and a special bond with her other cousins, Madeline Tennant and Mariah Eddy.
The family wishes to shower Delphia with flowers so at their request please wear bright happy colors (green was her favorite) and send flowers to the funeral home. We love you more than flowers Delphia.
