Burl Hall

Burl B. Hall, 95, of Davisson Run, Clarksburg, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 30, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Nov. 4, 1925, at Camden Station, in Camden (Lewis County), a son of the late Howard M. and Neta L. Woofter Hall.

Burl married the late Rebecca Jayne Hall on March 31, 1951. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage until she passed away on May 22, 2014. Burl graduated from Weston High School, Class of 1944 and the West Virginia Business College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. After 40 years of service, he retired from Hope Gas Inc. as area manager for natural gas distribution for the Fairmont and Morgantown areas. Burl was a member of the Simpson Creek Baptist Church for many years. He was also a 50 year member of Weston Lodge No. 10, A.F. and A.M., a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Clarksburg, Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, Legion of Honor, Taylor County Shrine Club and Taylor County Shrine Clowns.

During his working years, he was active in the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, United Way, Rotary Club and his community. Following his retirement, along with members of his church, Burl went on a mission trip to Haiti where they built a house for a Haitian family. Burl’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and travel. He and his loving wife traveled the 50 states, delivered Meals on Wheels and transported children to and from Shriners Hospitals for Children. There was no greater love or source of pride for Burl than his family.

Burl is survived by one son, Jeffery Hall, of Bridgeport; two daughters, Deborah and Kevin Nutter, of Clarksburg, Tracey and Tracy Lemasters, of Warner Robins, Ga.; five grandchildren: Jennifer Brooke Shiflet, Sarah and Adam Watson, Mikel Laurita, Zane Hall and Cooper Hall; three great-grandchildren; Aubrey Shiflet, Carter Shiflet and Griffin Shiflet; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Burl was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Hall; brother, Gail Hall; one sister, Lorene Ross; and one daughter-in-law, Linda Hall.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Simpson Creek Baptist Church, Deacons Fund, 231 W. Philadelphia Ave., Bridgeport, WV 26330 or Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1645 W 8th St., Eric PA 16545. Visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26301, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4. A funeral service will be held at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, with Dr. C. Michael Hopkins officiating. The Family requests everyone wear a mask at all times. Interment will follow at the Weston Masonic Cemetery in Lewis County with military honors accorded by the Lewis County Honor Guard and U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
