Barbara “Jean” DeBerry Feather, 83, of Bruceton Mills, (Hazelton Community), gained her wings Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at her home with her family by her side.
The daughter of the late Sanford Ray and Rachel Marie Reckart DeBerry, she was born on April 3, 1938, in Hazelton.
Jean loved quilting, gardening and watching the hummingbirds on her front porch, until her eyesight failed.
She is survived by her six children: Yvette Evangelist and spouse Daniel, Yvonne Rodeheaver and spouse Cecil, Ray Feather and spouse Joan and Lester Feather and spouse Angie, all of Hazelton, Jeanett and Richard Garrison, from Fairview, and Helen Feather and significant other Jack Pifer, of Phillipi; and 15 grandchildren: Jonathan and Dailey McCarty, Daniel and Samuel Kidwell, Tamara, Shawn and Timothy Rodeheaver, Richard, Philip and Matthew Feather, Justin and Anthony Feather, Charles and Jessica Shrout and Takoda Wilcher. She is also survived by her siblings, Stanley DeBerry, Opal and Lynn Miller, of Hazelton, and Chester and Barbara DeBerry, of Fairmont. Jean also leaves behind 28 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two spouses, Cecil Ray Feather Sr., and Dailey Ware Rexroad; a daughter, Mildred; one great-grandson, Hunter; a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Carlos Dennis; sisters-in-law, Peachie DeBerry and Barbara Feather; a brother-in-law, Joe Friend; sons-in-law, Butch Kidwell, David W. McCarty and Nolan Fitchett; as well as her very beloved and loyal dog, Mingo.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the family will have a graveside service at the Centenary Cemetery, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, with Pastor Tim Wotring officiating.
