Richard Johnson

Richard “Rick” Lynn Johnson, 70, of Morgantown, peacefully entered Heaven, surrounded by family on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021. He has indeed been healed of cancer.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1950, in Bluefield, a son of the late Cranston Delania Johnson and Martha Walker Johnson.

Rick attended Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church, in Morgantown, where he gave his heart to Jesus. He knew that God was on his side.

Rick was the warehouse manager for Pepsi for nearly 40 years. He was an avid Steelers Fan. He also loved the WV Mountaineers. Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, especially eating family dinners on Sundays watching The Black and Gold. Let’s go Steelers. He also enjoyed cooking, He was best known for his amazing sauce. He loved to read, and he always stayed up on the current political scene. He loved our country and he believed in making America great again.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Foy Johnson, of Morgantown; two children, Tabatha Baggett and her husband Kevin, from Georgia, and Ricky Johnson, from Myrtle Beach S.C.; three step-children, Mike Woods and wife Susan, Joey Woods and girlfriend Jamie and Cathy Henderson and husband Josh all of Morgantown; his grandchildren, Taylor and Jacob, of Georgia, Gabe, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Katie and her husband Ryan, Olivia, Owen-Nehemiah, Jason, Caleb and Samantha, Austin, Bella, Nate and Lilly, all of Morgantown; his brother, David Johnson and his wife Christy; and sisters, Delania Bierer and her husband Sam, and Cathy Britvic and her husband John, all of Morgantown. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his four-legged buddy, Baxter.

Rick always gave good solid advice; he was funny and quick-witted. He was generous to his friends and family. He loved his family very much, especially his wife, his best friend and his sweetheart, Sandy.

While battling cancer, Rick made sauce for his granddaughter Katie’s wedding reception in OBX. While we did not know his recipe, we always knew his sauce was stirred with love.

Friends may join the family to honor Rick’s life and legacy at Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church, 802 Greenbag Road, Morgantown, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, officiated by Pastor Nathan Williamson.
