Phyllis Ann Basaldella, 91, of Kingwood, died on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at Windy Hill Village.
Phyllis was born May 10, 1930, in Kingwood, a daughter of the late Vester Howard and Dessie Catherine (Eliason) Smith.
Following her graduation from Kingwood High School in 1948, she began working for the C&P Telephone Company where she continued to work until her retirement. Phyllis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, where she served as an elder, and an active member in the Presbyterian Woman’s Association. She will be remembered for her sweet soprano voice in the church Choir, the countless cross stitch pieces that she gave to bazaars and silent auctions, the Communion cloths, embossed with the Presbyterian Dove, her gentle humor, her contagious giggle but most of all her love for her family.
She is survived by two nieces and spouse, Rita and Eddie McNair, of Kingwood, and Phyllis Smith Ryan, of Shinnston; her nephew and spouse, Rick and Brenda Smith, of Kingwood; and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Amilio “Bass” Basaldella; and three brothers, Harold Smith, Richard “Dick” Smith and Paul Edward Smith.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel; 295 South Price St., from noon to the time of the funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kingwood. Social distancing and masks are required.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to WV Caring and Windy Hill for all of the loving care and help they provided.
The family requests that any memorial donations be made in Phyllis’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church, 104 East High St., Kingwood, WV 26537 or the Preston County Humane Society, Preston County Humane Society, P.O. Box 395, Kingwood, WV.
