Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance announced that Howard Hanna Insurance Services (HHIS) earned a 2021 Make More Happen Award, which recognizes its volunteerism with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Pittsburgh and Morgantown and its commitment to making a positive change within its community.
The award includes a $5,000 donation with a chance to double the amount to $10,000 that will directly benefit RMHC of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, a nonprofit organization that keeps families together during medical care.
Beginning today, the story of HHIS and RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown will be featured on the official Make More Happen microsite www.agentgiving.com/howard-hanna allowing the nonprofit a chance to earn the additional $5,000. If the featured story receives at least 500 votes — shares to social media and comments on the story —the donation will be doubled to $10,000.
Since 2018, HHIS has supported RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown by preparing and providing hot meals, hosting donation drives and parties, donating spa packages and gifting new toys for children and families staying at the house. As a result of Covid-19 safety protocols, HHIS gifts financial contributions to the house until they can resume on-site volunteering.
“We love this organization as it provides hope, connection and friendship to families in despair,” said Danielle Shearer, vice president and general manager for Howard Hanna Insurance Services. “We are forever grateful to receive this Make More Happen Award from Liberty Mutual and Safeco to provide RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown with the much-needed funds to continue serving local families in need.”
Due to RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown’s commitment to never turn a family away, the Jacob Johnson Family Lodging Fund is a vital part of the Charity’s fundraising efforts. With support of the $10,000 donation, families will be able to find comfort and rest at RMHC Pittsburgh and Morgantown for around 500 nights.
Throughout 2021, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select a total of 34 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $340,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting applications demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit, along with photos of a project they worked on.
