Six people were taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 68 Wednesday morning.
The five passengers and driver sustained injuries ranging from critical to non-critical, Morgantown Communications Director Andrew Stacy said.
Names of those involved were not released Wednesday.
Witnesses told officers with the Morgantown Police Department the blue Ford Focus was traveling east on I-68 when it attempted to get off at exit 4, in Sabraton, Stacy said.
“The driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate the curve of the exit, causing the vehicle to slide off the roadway and into the grass,” Stacy said. “The vehicle then went airborne and landed on a hillside on the opposite side of the ramp.”
The crash is still under investigation.
The crash was reported to MECCA 911 at 11:08 a.m., according to Director Jim Smith. The Sabraton on-ramp to I-68 was shutdown and all units cleared the scene at 12:33 p.m.
Mon EMS, MPD, and the Morgantown Fire Department responded.
