On Sunday, Aug. 29, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Robert “Bob” G. Stansberry Sr., 68, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bob was a proud union coal miner who retired after 40 years of service. He and the love of his life, Chris, were married on April 15, 1972, by the Rev. Frank Hilling at the Living by Faith Church in Brookhaven. After 42 years of a wonderful marriage, Christine Ann “Chris” (White) Stansberry passed away on Feb. 23, 2014.
He is survived by his son, Robert G. Stansberry Jr., spouse Valerie T. (Utt) Stansberry and granddaughter, Jacklyn Martin; his daughter, Amy Stansberry; and numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Howard “Sam” Stansberry and Margret V. (Summers) Stansberry; as well as brothers, Phil Stansberry, Pete Stansberry, Jerry Stansberry and Jim Stansberry.
After his retirement, he enjoyed going on cruises, making trips to the Amish country, spending time shooting pool with friends made at the Senior Monongalians Center and also working out at Planet Fitness.
Family and friends will be received at Nicholson Chapel, Summer School Road, Morgantown, from 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept 5, until the time of service at 4 p.m., with Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Cemetery.
