Samantha Turner

Samantha “Sami” Jo Turner, 30, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021. She was born Aug. 17, 1990, to the late Melissa “Missy” McIe-Allen and Charles Edward “Ace” Turner.

In addition to her parents, Sami was preceded in death by her favorite person in the world, her maternal grandmother, Sandra “Grams” Crider; grandfather, Gerald Crider; Uncle Nathan McIe; and Aunt Allison McIe.

She is survived by her brother, Tyler “Tank” Turner; sisters, Rhonda Sloan and Janelle Turner-Jenkins; nephew, Isaiah Ward, and niece, Aminah Jenkins, who will miss their Auntie every day; one uncle, Matthew McIe and one aunt, Samantha McIe; and cousins, Jessika McIe, Jennifer McIe, Savannah McIe-Comberiati, Matthew McIe and Maverick McIe, who were all like her siblings.

Special cousins who were near and dear to her heart include Tanicia Arrington, Rana Mears, and Challen Dobbs along with baby cousins, John Comberiati, Serena Comberiati and Wyatt McIe.

She loved life, her friends and, most of all, her family.

Camping trips just won’t be the same without her. She was “one with nature” and loved the outdoors whether it was hiking, swimming in the lake or walking along the beach.

Sami was the life of every party, never met a stranger and made her presence known wherever she went. She was a University High graduate and earned her rightful place as UHS’s first African American Homecoming Queen.

Sami was also a graduate of Morgantown Beauty College. She went on to hone her skills to become one of the best barbers in town, giving free haircuts at Back-to-School events and to the homeless. She gave everything she had to every aspect of her life.

She will be missed by anyone who had the privilege to know her.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 1-3 p.m. and continue from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, with Pastor Gwen McKinley officiating.

Donations can be made directly to the family for services at www.givingcompassion.care.
