A person was killed Tuesday when a large Penske box truck crashed on Interstate 68, between the Cheat Lake and Coopers Rock exits.
According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, the truck ran off the left side of the road, then re-entered, rolling onto its side. The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wreck happened around 7:30 a.m. and blocked both westbound lanes. The cause remains under investigation.
Mon EMS, Brookhaven VFD, Morgantown Fire Department, Preston County Sheriff’s Office, Bruceton VFD and Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
A release authorized by Sheriff Perry Palmer said no further information would be provided at this time.
