Roger James Barber, 63, died on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021 at his home in Morgantown, losing his battle with cancer.
Roger was born on Jan. 19, 1958, the only child of Alex and Charlotte Barber.
Roger was employed with Mylan Pharmaceuticals for 21 years. He previously worked as a very proud coal miner at Consol’s Osage #3 mine for 18 years. Roger was a 1977 graduate of University High School.
Roger was an avid whitetail deer hunter. Autumn was his favorite time of year. He loved watching the leaves change, anxious for the fall hunting season to begin.
Roger is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cynthia (Sanetrik) Barber. They were blessed with a close, loving relationship, their devotion to each other growing stronger each year.
Roger is also survived by his sons, Ryan (Tabatha), Brandon (Deborah), Travis (Rachel) and Luke (Kristina). Roger loved his boys. He enjoyed a special closeness with each, appreciating their individual personalities. Their devotion to him meant everything to him. The grandchildren are Trey, Virginia, Charlotte, Tamsin, Alex, Easton and Elizabeth.
Roger is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Chris and “K” and brothers-in-law, Brian and Kevin. He loved them as his true sisters and brothers.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Charlotte, and his beloved mother-in-law, Lois, with whom he had a close and loving relationship.
The family wishes for any memorial donations be made to the Holy Pursuits Dream Foundation, 943 Blackberry Hill, Rowlesburg, WV 26425. This foundation takes terminally ill children on hunting and fishing trips.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and hospice nurses, Amy, Trish and Libby, for their compassionate care.
Finally, to all the friends and family for the many prayers, calls and offers of support during this time. It was appreciated more than words can express. We love you all so much.
