Wednesday afternoon, HealthNet Aeromedical Services celebrated the addition of an EC145e helicopter to its fleet with a ribbon-cutting and tour of the aircraft.

The new EC145e will be based in Morgantown in support of WVU Medicine. It is equipped with the latest medical and aviation technology. The large airframe can also accommodate pediatric, bariatric and other complex patient transports, which require additional medical specialists and equipment to be on board the helicopter.

On hand for the ribbon-cutting  were Clinton Burley, president/CEO  of HealthNet Aeromedical Services;     Albert L. Wright Jr., president and CEO of  West Virginia University Health System;     Christopher S. Goode, chairman of  WVU Department of Emergency Medicine; Gordon Gee, president of  WVU and WVU Health System Board of Directors; leadership and flight team members from HealthNet Aeromedical Services; and     leadership and medical professionals from WVU Medicine.

HealthNet Aeromedical Services Inc. is headquartered in Charleston and is a not-for-profit critical care transport system cooperatively owned and operated by Cabell Huntington Hospital, Charleston Area Medical Center and WVU Medicine. The program operates eight helicopter bases in West Virginia and one in Kentucky and has safely transported over 90,000 patients since beginning operations in 1986.
