Robert Sidow

Robert F. “Bob” Sidow, 71, of Frederick, Md., passed away Monday, July 26, 2021, with his family by his side.

Born in Pittsburgh, Bob was the son of Dr. Robert J. and Audrey Sidow.

Bob was raised in Fairmont and graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pa. He graduated from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and Shepherd University in Shepherdstown.

He was a West Virginia State Trooper from 1974-80. He served as an FBI field agent from 1983-2007, during which he was a member of the Baltimore SWAT Assault Team (1986-96). His service also included rescue and recovery at the U.S. Pentagon following 9/11.

Bob was an avid WVU football fan, a muscle car drag racer and a member of St. John Catholic Church in Frederick, Md. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he provided much encouragement, love and laughs.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Robert J. and Audrey Sidow; his in-laws, Jack and Helen Bivens; and his brother-in-law, John Jordan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Virginia Bivens Sidow, of Frederick, Md.; two sons, Chad and wife Roxanne, and Andy and wife Myka, of Inwood; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Kacey, Nate and Gracie Sidow. He is also survived by his siblings, Liz Kurth and husband Lloyd, Gretchen Weiser and husband Mark, Jennifer Sidow and husband Chuck, and Kevin Sidow and wife Nancy; his sister, Meg Jordan; many brothers- and sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Catholic Mass for friends and family will take place at St. Leo Catholic Church, Inwood, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, with Father Alfred Obiudu as celebrant. Family will receive one hour prior to service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at t2t.org or the First Responders Children’s Foundation at 1strcf.org.
