Sharieff Amin Freeman, 43, passed away June 29, 2021, in Akron, Ohio, after a two-year battle with leiomyosarcoma. He was born Aug. 19, 1977.
Raised by his parents, Dr. Rasheeda (Gale Ayanru) Ahmad and Osagie Ayanru, he spent his formative years attending local private schools in Lagos, Nigeria, including the American International School.
Upon the family’s return to the United States, he attended school in Warren, Ohio, Morgantown (Suncrest Jr. High and Morgantown High) and Charleston, where he graduated from high school. During his stay in Morgantown, Sharieff attended religious programs at the Ahmadiyyat Pittsburgh Jama’at. He studied at West Virginia University before relocating to Warren, Ohio. Sharieff was a loving and dedicated father. Although he spent his last few months with his mother in hospice care in Philadelphia, three weeks before his demise, he made the decision to travel by car to Ohio to spend the end of his life with his four children.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Nora “Mimi” Miller Rankin, of Fairmont; aunt, Sandy Freeman, of Warren, Ohio; grandparents, Sarah and George Freeman; and Khalef Freeman.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children: Rasheeda, Sharieff Jr., Ray’Chelle and Sandy; mother of his children, Keisha Rivers; grandmother, Hameeda Haleem; his loving sister, Khadijah (lyore Ayanru) Ennin; brother-in-law, Mahmud Ermin; natural father, Terry Freeman; along with a host of Freeman siblings and family members in Warren, Ohio.
