Donald Cass Stemple, 92, of Bruceton Mills, went to be with the Lord, due to natural causes, on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, at home, surrounded by family.
Don was the last surviving child of the late Earl and Dora Stemple, he was born May 3, 1928, in Aurora.
He was a graduate of Aurora High School. He served as an MP in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. He also worked in the coal industry for many years. He drove the feed truck for Bruceton Ag for over 20 years, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow farmers. He loved farming his 204-acre farm. Don was a member of the Bruceton United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Woodmen of the World for over 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Knotts Stemple; and five children: Scott (Geri) Stemple, Jeff (Beverly) Stemple, Sharon (Dennis) Harsh, Roger (Leah) Stemple and Beth (Jason) Bishop, all of Bruceton Mills. The light of his life were his nine grandchildren: Andrea (Erick) Lemley, Aaron (Kelsey) Stemple, Meredith (Jerrod) Harteis, Cody (Chelsea) Harsh, Daniel (Abigail Shillingburg) Harsh, Lucas (Katelyn) Stemple, Morgan (Brandon Osborne) Stemple, Kyler Bishop and Cassie Bishop. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and his fur baby and best buddy, Brody.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles and Melvin Stemple; and three sisters, Mildred Kovalch, Madeline Wotring and Margaret Case.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life service in the Bruceton United Methodist Church in Bruceton Mills, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to a favorite charity.
