Patty Lou “Dragon” Tarantini, 82, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at her residence. She was born July 10, 1939, in Morgantown, daughter of the late William Joshua and Vesta (Reese) Bolyard.
Patty was a telephone operator for C&P Telephone Company from the day she graduated high school until the company left Morgantown in 1983. She was an avid photographer and animal lover. She was a NASCAR enthusiast who loved Jeff Gordon and was a huge Pittsburgh Steeler as well as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
She was known by friends and family as a lady who spoke her mind. She was very involved with her grandsons’ lives. She loved going to see them in their various sporting events and supported them in their college endeavors.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammi Benedict and husband Trace; grandchildren, Joshua Benedict and fiancé, Sammy Guinn and Garrett Benedict and significant other Taylor Corkins; sisters-in-law, Marianne Moser and husband Joe, Kathy Dalzot and husband Rick; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Louie M. Tarantini; nephew, Michael Tarantini; and beloved pet, Shilo.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m., Monday, July 19. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, until the time of the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati officiating. She will then be laid to rest alongside her husband at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made in her memory to Monongalia County Canine Adoption Center, 243 High St., 2nd Floor, Morgantown, WV 26505.
