Craft beer lovers in West Virginia and neighboring states should mark their calendars now for the fourth annual Hops on the Mon Craft Beer & Food Festival.
Following a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the event is set for 3-7 p.m. Oct. 16 in the heart of downtown Morgantown.
The festival is hosted by Main Street Morgantown, managed by Top Tier Beer Group and will occupy the block of High Street between Walnut and Pleasant streets.
Attendees can sample beers available from West Virginia, across the country and around the world. Hops on the Mon is designed as a premier event and features distinctive local, American and European craft beer — all selected using Top Tier’s decade-plus experience in the craft beer industry.
In addition to beer, Hops on the Mon includes a yearly food competition and sampling based on a theme and prepared by the area’s best restaurants. This year’s competition is titled, “The Super Slider Shootout” and offers ticket-holders a chance to vote for the People’s Choice winner.
Along with the best beer from around the world, and food from local restaurants, there’s live music. Area artist Goodwolf opens the day with a signature dose of meat-and-potatoes rock and roll, followed by emerging independent country music musician — Morgantown singer-songwriter William Matheny — and his fusion of alt-country, rock, roots and pop.
Tickets for the event are $30 and include unlimited samplings along with a souvenir tasting cup. Designated driver tickets are also available for $10, and include free non-alcoholic beverages. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold. To purchase tickets and for more information go to hopsonthemon.com, or visit the event’s Facebook page.
