Alice Ruth Teets Huggins Clawges passed away June 10, 2021, in her home in Castle Hayne, N.C. Alice was born in Granville, to Edna Lucille Brafford Teets and Theodore Roosevelt Teets, on Jan. 28, 1933.
Alice is preceded in death by her husbands, Harlin “Chip” Huggins and Robert “Bob” Clawges; her parents, Edna Lucille Brafford Teets and Theodore Roosevelt Teets; her sister, Betty Teets Barker; her brother, James “Jim” Teets; and her son-in-law, David H. Tucker.
Alice is survived by her children, Ginger Huggins Tucker, of Terra Alta, Patti Huggins Longnecker (Paul), Mary Clawges Baker (Robert), Robert “Bob” Clawges Jr. and wife Jennifer, and Dawn Clawges Bean (John), all of Wilmington, N.C.; her seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Theodore Teets and wife Lydia, of Richmond, Va., numerous nieces and nephews and Bonnie Karver, who has been Mom’s best friend for over 80 years.
Alice and Bob owned Bob Clawges Transfer and Storage in Westover before retiring to Carolina Beach, N.C., in 1977. Alice was a master seamstress and quilter. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Wrightsboro United Methodist Church.
Services were conducted June 14 at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington, N.C.
