Early Saturday morning, 26-year-old Tyler Poston was found dead on U.S. 119 in Taylor County, just over the Monongalia County line.
Taylor County Prosecutor John Board said Poston was shot six times, twice in the head and four times in the body below the neck. His death has been ruled a homicide.
Board said the Taylor County sheriff is “working on some things” but that Monongalia County residents can still help.
U.S. 119, also known as Grafton Road, connects Monongalia and Taylor counties. Board said residents of Mon who live along the road who saw anything suspicious should call the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department at 304-265-3428.
Board said the sheriff’s department is also interested in any video footage from cameras with a view of Grafton Road, from Friday night to Saturday morning.
“Anything that we can possibly see,” he said. “We just need help.”
A GoFundMe, “Tyler Poston’s Funeral” has been set up to help his family with the funeral expenses and had raised just over $4,000 of its $12,000 goal on Wednesday afternoon. It describes Poston as a hard worker but said he didn’t have life insurance.
Any money left over will be put in a trust for his daughter, Karmendi.
