MORGANTOWN — Morgantown Post 2 bounced back from a poor Saturday with a 15-7 win over Latrobe (Pa.) on the final day of the WAJR Wood Bat Classic on Sunday at Mylan Park.
Post 2 was swept in a doubleheader Saturday by Uniontown (Pa.) and Cumberland (Md.), but used five RBIs from Tony Marsh to beat Latrobe to even its season record to 2-2.
The offense got going early, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings. Latrobe actually took a 5-3 lead in the 3rd, but Post 2 bounced back and answered with seven in the bottom half of the frame. Post 2 went on to score four in the 5th and one in the 6th.
Marsh led the team with his five RBIs, while Zach Owens drove in four. Aaron Forbes (2), Jacob Kennel, Cody Thomas and Domenic Colasante finished out the offense for Post 2.
Marsh, Kennel and Owens each had two hits to lead the team.
Greg Eddy for the start on the mound, going 4 2/3 allowing six runs but striking out nine. Connor McDonough finished things out in the final 2 1/3, allowing one run on three hits.
Post 2 will play at Shinnston at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
