Ruth “Arlene” Freeland, 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born June 30, 1955, in Fairmont, a daughter to the late Delbert and Nona Freeland.
Ruth is survived by three children son Jody Gray, of Morgantown, daughter Anndreea Wright and husband James, of Morgantown, and Mirranda Shelott and husband Stephen, of Grafton; grandchildren, Dustin and Chase Nicholson, Isaiah and Brayden Shelott, Tyler Shorter and Samantha and Joey Gray; five brothers, Arthur Freeland and wife Terry, of Ida May; Roger Freeland and wife Betty, of Thornton; and Eugene Freeland, Richard Freeland and wife Debra and Daniel Freeland and wife Kim, all of Fairmont; also her longtime, childhood friend and companion Ronnie Dunn.
Ruth worked for many years as a nutrition aide at Mon Health Medical Center. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crafting, spending time with her grandchildren and rescuing her beloved dogs, whom she cared for dearly.
Friends and family will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, with Pastor Kevin Summers officiating. Her wishes to be cremated will be honored thereafter.
