Martha Bulford

Martha Belle Bulford, 87, of Rowlesburg, journeyed to her Heavenly home June 8, 2021.
Born in Newburg May 23, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Dessie and Alonzo Harris and the beloved wife of John Franklin Bulford Jr. for 72 years, having married on Oct. 29, 1949.

Martha was a member of the Cannon Hill VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Methodist Womens’ Society and attended Christ United Methodist Church. During her lifetime, she was employed at the Sterling Processing Plant, Kenny Shoe Factory, Hopemont State Hospital, Camp Dawson, and was an election poll worker.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, embroidering, watching her flowers bloom and going on shopping trips with her girls. She loved spending time with her family, especially visiting with her grandchildren and hosting holiday dinners.

Martha is survived by her husband, John, one sister, her son, Jerry F. Bulford Sr. (Terri) of Bluefield; her daughters, Susan Selders (Earl) of Aurora; Peggy Carrico (Wesley) of Terra Alta; Rose Burns (Tim); and Bonnie Bulford, both of Rowlesburg; and Nancy Dean (Jim) of Core; grandchildren Jason Carrico (Nichole) of Rowlesburg, Lacey Owens (Sam) of Terra Alta; Jeremy Selders (Tabitha) of Aurora; Carrie Miller of Albright; Pamela Burns (Stanley) of Barrackville; Martha Webb (Aaron) of Virginia; Sara Harper (Larry) of Princeton; Breann Dean of Fairmont; great-grandchildren, Jerry Bulford, III; Joana Bulford; Clarissa, Leann and Samantha Carrico; Mackenzie and Hunter Selders; Conner and Kylah Owens; George Webb; Katie and Liam Harper; and great-great-grandson, Weston Bulford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, three sisters, grandson-in-law Charles Miller, and her first born grandson, Jerry F. Bulford, Jr.

Martha was laid to rest June 12, 2021 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Lantz Ridge Road, Aurora.
