Beverly “Sue” Owens, 68, of Beaver, passed away on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born in McDowell County, on Dec. 6, 1952, a daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin and Clara Vivian Alberty Owens.
Sue worked as a nursing assistant for Heartland Healthcare Center in Hyattsville, Md. for more than 30 years and then retired to Beaver. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her time at the beach and watching westerns and soap operas.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brothers, James “Jimmy” Owens, Franklin Owens, and Williams “Bill” Owens; and her sisters, Janell Meadows and Trula Owens-Burgess.
Survivors include her daughters, Christine Simmons and her husband Phil, of Pasadena, Md., and Sheri Stott and her husband Matt Andis, of Morgantown; her sister, Juanita Lilly, of Sophia; her brother, Joe Owens and his wife Sharon, of Coal City; her grandchildren, Zach Hunter, Abby Arthur, Kyle Simmons, Carolyn Cortez, Gage Simmons and Troy, Collin, Logan and Grayson Andis; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Also, Sue is survived by her former husband, Tom Stott, of Hyattsville, Md., who, even after 26 years apart, remained good friends and parents to their children.
Friends may join the family to honor Sue’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. officiated by Pastor Dan Meadows. Following the funeral service, and at the request of the family, Sue will be cremated.
