Vincent Cianfrocco

Vincent E. Cianfrocco, 88, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021. He was born on Dec. 7, 1932, at the family home in Westover, the son of the late Mary (Sabatini) and Sebastiano (Sam) Cianfrocco.

He was a graduate of University High School Class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Army, 1953-1955. He was enroute to serve in the Korean War when the war ended. Spending 16-months in Korea, he was assigned to the 74th Engineering Company (heavy equipment). Upon his return from Korea he purchased a 1956 Ford Thunderbird, which he still proudly owned.

He had been employed by the Diamond Alkali Plant in Painesville, Ohio; he and his brother operated Cianfrocco Amoco Station, Pursglove, and they were distributors for Gulf Oil Products.

He has been a 21-year heart patient and after quadruple by-pass heart surgery and many complications, his cardiologist, Dr. Michael O’Keefe, told him to keep moving, and that he did. He went out daily spending most of his time at their former Gulf Oil business site where he was visited by many of his friends. Prior to the heart surgery, he loved to hunt. With God watching over him, his desire to eat healthy and exercise, his sister providing heart-healthy meals, and the care of Dr. Michael O’Keefe, Vince, he overcame the complications. We thank Dr. Michael O’Keefe for his care during the 21 years.

The second of four children, he is survived by his brother, Thomas J. Cianfrocco and his sister, Rosemary Cianfrocco, of Morgantown; nieces, Kathy (Rex) Foster and Mary Ann Boczek; nephews, Thomas Cianfrocco and Michael Scordato; great-nieces, Lauren Boczek, Kara Boczek, Hillary (Michael) Boone and Anna Marie Scordato; and great-nephew, Kyle Foster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Cianfrocco Scordato on Sept. 25, 2020, and her husband, Samuel Scordato on Oct. 12, 2019; his grandparents, Vincenzo “Vincent” and Chiara “Clara” Cianfrocco, of Alatri, Italy, and Rose and Angelo Sabatini, of Morgantown and Abruzzi, Italy; his aunts and uncles, Acquilino and Emma Chenfrock (Cianfrocco), of Harrisville, and Joe and Mary Katherine Sabatini, of Dearborn, Mich; his aunt, Frances Sabatini; and his sister-in-law, Mary Jean Keechel Cianfrocco, of Morgantown. Also surviving are relatives in Italy.
