David W. Lewis Jr., 66, a lifetime resident of Morgantown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Mon Health Medical Center. He was born Aug. 25, 1954, a son of Goldie B. Lewis and the late David W. Lewis Sr. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend to all of those lucky enough to have known him.
David was a retired coal miner who enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing trips with the boys, gardening, canning and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Goldie B. Lewis; five siblings and spouses, Donna and Carl Mayfield, of Springfield, Wanda and James Martin, of Morgantown, Ernie and Beth Lewis, of Fairmont, Debbie and Randy Wilson, of Morgantown, and Cathy and Ray Hurt, of Morgantown; along with many nephews and nieces, whom he loved dearly.
David was preceded in death by his father, David W. Lewis Sr.; brother, John B. Lewis; paternal grandparents, Page and Lourdine Lewis; maternal grandparents, Grant and Goldie Wolfe; and his dog/best friend and companion for 12 years, Rusty.
Family and friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 2-6 p.m., Friday, June 4. Mr. Lewis will be moved to Nicholson Chapel Church, Summer School Road, Morgantown, where visitation will continue, from noon-1 p.m. Saturday, June 5, with Tess Hovatter officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Cemetery.
