PREP ROUNDUP: Morgantown baseball team falters vs. Bridgeport in 8-2 loss

Trying to cap off a season sweep of Bridgeport, the Morgantown baseball team couldn’t come back from an early deficit, falling 8-2 for its fourth loss of the season.

The Indians scored three runs in the first inning and that was enough to put the Mohigans away. MHS scored in the 2nd and another in the 6th, but it was too late. Ryan Fluharty, Koma Neal, Jacob Kennell, Caleb Nutter, Ethan Smith, and Zach Owens all had hits for MHS.

At the bottom of the lineup, Neal and Kennell had the lone RBIs for the Mohigans.

On the mound, Reed Bailey went 4 2/3 innings, allowing four earned runs. Jeffery Poach and Caleb Cottle finished the game out but the Indians continued to extend the lead.

The Mohigans (18-4) will play at Fairmont Senior at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

UHS bounced back, scoring three of its own in the 5th, thanks in large part on a home run by Noah Braham.

Avante Neal led the Hawks with two hits, while Braham, Edwards, Cam Musgrave and Drew Herter each had one.s

Zach Harmon got the start and pitched four innings for UHS, allowing two runs. The Smith twins, Casey and Evan, threw the final three innings, allowing three runs.
