MORGANTOWN — A motorcycle driver died in a crash Monday evening on Interstate 79 near mile marker 145 southbound.
According to witnesses, the driver lost control of the motorcycle while traveling south, laid it down, and struck a guardrail, the West Virginia State Police announced. No other vehicles were involved.
The scene and witness statements suggest the crash was caused by the weather conditions, state police said. The Morgantown area saw scattered rain showers Monday.
The victim’s name has not been released.
The crash was reported to 911 at 5:44 p.m. and the last units left the scene at 7:11, according to a 911 supervisor.
Mon EMS, Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department and Triune Halleck Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the crash.
