MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Autumn Stemple was nearly perfect Monday.
The University High softball pitcher threw a no-hitter against Buckhannon-Upshur, leading the Hawks to an 8-0 win along the way.
Stemple allowed no walks. The only thing keeping her from a perfect game was three errors committed by the Hawks. She struck out 12 of the 21 batters she faced.
The junior also added a double and drove in two runs at the plate, which added to the Hawks’ 12-hit attack.
Meysa Heitmann, Anna Argabrite and Lindsey Vorndran all added two hits each. Argabrite and Vorndran each scored twice.
