MORGANTOWN — Beechurst Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7 p.m. May 21 to 8 p.m. May 23, according to West Virginia University Transportation and Parking.
John Thompson, director of design and construction, said the closure is intended to accommodate construction of WVU’s Reynolds Hall.
During the closure, crews plan to paint the pedestrian bridge, which crosses over Beechurst Avenue.
Signage will be placed in the area to direct traffic to an alternative route.
Following the closure, southbound traffic between Campus Drive and Hough Street will be reduced to one lane until Aug. 13. Thompson said during this time, sidewalks will be constructed in front of the building.
Located at the former site of Stansbury Hall, construction of Reynolds Hall is slated for completion in 2022. The hall will serve as the new home of West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience during the disruptions,” Thompson said. “We try to make them as easy as possible.”
Thompson said additional closures may occur later in August when barriers from the current projects are removed.
