Jeffrey “Jeff” Scripp, 73, of Morgantown, formerly of Fairmont, passed away, Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 5, 1947, in Bayard, he was the son of the late, Tony F. Scripp and Mary Y. (Kuhn) Scripp. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher “Kit” Scripp; three sisters, Sandy Huffman Bennett and infants Karen and Betty Zane Scripp.
Jeff grew up in Bayard and was a graduate of Bayard High School and Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland, Md. He had worked as a CNC machinist for Eimco/FMC of Fairmont and retired as an encapsulation department coordinator for Mylan Pharmaceuticals of Morgantown. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending summers with his family at his camp at Mt. Storm Lake.
He is survived by his son, Jason M. Scripp (Jackie); stepson, Chadron Wright; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn N. Scripp, Michael A. Smith and Ryan L. Smith; siblings, Tony Scripp Jr. (Marian), Ronald “Bob” Scripp (Charlotte), Ramona Adams and Kathy Pelle; former wife, Martha Ann Layton and former wife, Zeva Carol Scripp; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at the Bayard Church of God, at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 22, with Pastor Lee Maley officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hart for Animals, 1265 Bumble Bee Road, Accident, MD 21520 (301) 387-7729, www.hart for animals.org
