MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — In a shootout Tuesday night, Zach Brennan was the hero for the Morgantown baseball team, drawing a bases loaded walk in the 8th inning to win the game 13-12 for the Mohigans over Robert C. Byrd at Mylan Park.
It was a constant game of rallies for MHS, which trailed 9-1 at one point before scoring eight-straight runs from the 5th through 7th innings, including a 5-run outburst in the 7th. Zach Owens, Quincy Thornton and Brennan all drove in runs, with Brennan hitting a big fly.
The Mohigans quickly needed another rally, though, as the Eagles scored three run in the top of the 8th. But never out, MHS did what it needed to do, scoring four runs in the bottom of the frame to get the win.
Overall, Brennan had four RBIs to lead the team, while Thornton added three of his own. Owens and Ethan Smith each also drove in runs.
In the hits category, Smith and Brennan each had two, while Ryan Fluharty, Ty Galusky, Domenic Colasante and Jacob Kennell checked off that in the box score.
The Mohigans will take on University at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Mylan Park.

UHS scored two in the top of the 7th, but its rally fell short.
