Samuel Lehman Hollis, 83, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.
Born Jan. 4, 1938, in Arthurdale, he was a son of the late Reuben Hollis and the late Jewel Tanner Hollis.
Survivors include his siblings, Faith Ann Dameron, Fran W. Zepp (Paul J. Zepp) and Robert D. Hollis (Pam); several nieces and nephews; his faithful canine companion, Samantha; and his daughter, Dawn Marie Hollis.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by an infant sister, Hope Marie Hollis; two nephews, Shane J. Dameron and Christopher R. Hollis; and his longtime companion, Ieda Darnell.
Sam was a graduate of Saint Francis High School and attended school all throughout his years in the Saint Francis System. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Upon his discharge from the Coast Guard, he worked as a chef at many different locations, and also a salesperson in various companies. He always loved a good card game with his buddies and had many childhood and high school friends that he cherished.
Sam’s family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
There will be no funeral home visitation. Interment will be held privately in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
