Alfred Andrew Cale, 79, of Independence, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021, at home, with his loving wife of 37 years by his side.
He was born in Masontown, on July 11, 1941, a son of the late Herbert and Nettie (Wolfe) Cale. Alfred was a graduate of Valley High School in Masontown and was a retired coal miner from Blacksville #1 Mine.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Boyce) Martin Cale; and two sons, Gary Martin and wife Susan, of Gladesville, and David Martin and wife Becky, of Independence. He is also survived by grandchildren, Travis Martin, of Gladesville, Pamela Dooley and husband Shane, of Morgantown, Natalie Totaro and husband Kevin, of Jarrettsville, Md., Sierra King and husband Lucas, of Reedsville, and Dakota Sisler, of Independence; great-grandchildren, Carter Dooley, Keaton and Karson Totaro, Emma and Isiah Dooley and Connor King; two brothers, Bernard Cale and wife Julie and James Cale, all of Masontown; a brother-in-law, David Boyce, of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Cale; sister-in-law, Susan Cale and nephew, Bryan Cale.

Per Alfred’s wishes, cremation services will be handled by Field Funeral Home in Masontown. No public visitation or services will be held at this time.
