Starting May 3, WVU will offer another opportunity for the community to practice sustainability.
Students and area residents can donate to the Blue and Gold Mine Sale by dropping off good-quality, usable items at residence halls and four locations around town.
Donation sites will be: All residence halls (students should use), Chateau Royale, top of Falling Run Road, Grant Avenue and Area 81 — Mountaineer Station.
Accepted items include (but are not limited to) furniture, electronics, clothing, sporting goods, seasonal decor, bedding/linens, books, kitchen utensils, storage containers, dishes, small appliances and office supplies.
The items will be set up and sold at a yard-sale like event on campus from 7 a.m.-noon May 15. All proceeds benefit the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.
To date this sale has raised over $184,000. Organizers call it “a triple win — it helps our streets stay a little cleaner during the busy WVU move-out period, diverts about 25 tons of material from the landfill, and raises money for the United Way’s important work.”
