Franklin Andrew Cochran, 80, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Stonerise Morgantown. He was born at home in Granville on Nov. 12, 1940, son of the late Thomas and Ruth Cochran.
As a young man, he served the Volunteer Fire Department in Granville. Frank was a graduate of University High School Class of 1959. On Aug. 18, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, Andrea Buck.
Frank followed his passion as a bricklayer and was president of the Local #15 for several years and was a 50 year Gold Card Member.
He also served many years at Cheat Lake V.F.D as a safety officer, also earning Fireman of the Year Award. Frank was also an avid shooter and was accomplished with the competition service rifle and later muzzleloader competition. His love of firearms also lead him to become a lifetime member of the NRA, the Mason-Dixon Rifle Club where he served on the Board of Directors, life member of the Ohio Gun Club and Collectors. Frank was also a member of the first Monongalia County Diving-Rescue Squad, many years ago.
Frank was an animal lover. He loved his many German Shepherd and Husky dogs that he had over his lifetime. After his retirement, he would spend many hours each day watching out his picture window at the wildlife. He would constantly feed the birds, deer, including baby Bambi, wild turkeys and babies, as well as squirrels and rabbits.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Derrick Andrew Cochran, who he was very proud of, especially his nine year service to our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, earning the rank of sergeant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons and a sister.
Friends and family will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, and again from 10 a.m., Thursday, until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rena Perozich officiating. Frank will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
